This Whipped Feta with Honey recipe is a creamy, tangy, and slightly spicy appetizer that’s perfect for entertaining or a simple snack. The whipped feta cheese is blended to a smooth, spreadable consistency and topped with warm, spiced honey and crunchy pistachios, served alongside toasted baguette slices for a delightful combination of flavors and textures.

Ingredients

Feta Dip

  • 8 ounces cow’s milk feta cheese
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons whole milk or plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Hot Honey

  • ¼ cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Garnish and Serving

  • ⅓ cup chopped pistachios for garnish
  • Toasted baguette slices for serving

Instructions

  1. Drain the Feta: Break the block of feta into about 8 pieces and place in a fine mesh strainer. Rinse briefly under cold water to reduce saltiness, then drain well. This step is optional but recommended for a milder flavor.
  2. Prepare the Hot Honey: In a small saucepan, combine the honey and red pepper flakes. Warm over medium heat until the honey just begins to simmer, then remove from heat and allow it to cool slightly while you prepare the dip.
  3. Whip the Feta: Transfer the drained feta pieces to the bowl of a food processor. Add the lemon juice and whole milk or Greek yogurt. Process until the mixture takes on a ricotta or cottage cheese-like texture. While the processor runs, slowly drizzle in the olive oil. Scrape down the sides and process again until smooth and creamy, with a consistency similar to Greek yogurt.
  4. Assemble and Garnish: Transfer the whipped feta to a serving bowl. Use a spoon to create a swirl pattern on the surface. Drizzle the cooled hot honey evenly over the top. Sprinkle the chopped pistachios on the garnish and serve immediately with toasted baguette slices.

Notes

  • Rinsing the feta is optional but helps tone down the saltiness.
  • Use whole milk or plain Greek yogurt for creaminess; adjust quantity for desired texture.
  • Warm honey infusion can be made in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
  • For a milder flavor, reduce the amount of red pepper flakes.
  • Toasted baguette slices can be prepared by brushing with olive oil and baking at 350°F for 5-7 minutes until golden.
