This Halloween Buffalo Chicken Dip, also known as Booffalo Dip, is a festive and flavorful appetizer perfect for spooky gatherings. Shredded chicken tossed in spicy buffalo sauce layered over creamy cream cheese, topped with ranch dressing and mozzarella ghost shapes, then baked to bubbly perfection. The black gel writing adds a fun Halloween touch with ghost faces, making it both delicious and visually appealing.

Ingredients

Chicken Mixture

  • 1 lb chicken breast, shredded
  • 1-2 cups buffalo sauce (adjust based on spice preference)

Base Layer

  • 16 oz cream cheese, softened

Toppings

  • ¼ cup ranch dressing
  • ½ lb mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • 1 tube black writing gel

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the dip.
  2. Coat Chicken: Place the shredded chicken and buffalo sauce into a large plastic bag and mix until all the chicken is evenly coated with the buffalo sauce.
  3. Prepare Base Layer: Spread the softened cream cheese evenly on the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish, creating a creamy base for the dip.
  4. Add Chicken Layer: Arrange the buffalo chicken mixture in a single layer over the cream cheese to ensure even coverage and flavor distribution.
  5. Add Ranch Dressing: Pour the ranch dressing evenly over the buffalo chicken layer. Do not mix it in, as it adds a cool contrast on top.
  6. Cut Cheese Ghosts: Using a cookie cutter, cut ghost shapes out of the mozzarella cheese slices for a fun Halloween theme.
  7. Top with Cheese Ghosts: Place the mozzarella ghost shapes on top of the chicken mixture, making sure they do not overlap so they bake evenly.
  8. Bake: Bake the assembled dip in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly golden.
  9. Decorate Ghosts: Remove the dip from the oven and use the black writing gel to draw eyes and mouths on each mozzarella ghost to complete the spooky look.
  10. Serve Warm: Serve the dip warm with your choice of chips, bread, crackers, or vegetables for dipping.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of buffalo sauce to control the spiciness of the dish.
  • Use a cookie cutter size that fits well within your baking dish for even coverage.
  • Make sure cream cheese is softened for easier spreading.
  • The black writing gel adds a fun, decorative touch but can be omitted if preferred.
  • Serve immediately for best texture and flavor.
