Caprese Skewers are a fresh and elegant appetizer featuring juicy cherry tomatoes, creamy mozzarella balls, and fragrant basil leaves, all drizzled with tangy balsamic glaze. Perfect for parties or light snacks, these no-cook skewers are quick to assemble and bursting with classic Italian flavors.

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 1 pint cherry tomatoes
  • 12 oz fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini)
  • Fresh basil leaves (about 12 leaves)
  • Balsamic glaze for drizzling
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 12 small skewers or toothpicks

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Rinse the cherry tomatoes and basil leaves under cold water and pat them dry. Drain the mozzarella balls if they are packed in water.
  2. Assemble the Skewers: Take a skewer or toothpick and thread one cherry tomato onto it, followed by a fresh basil leaf, and then a mozzarella ball. Continue this pattern, filling the skewer but leaving some space at the ends for easy handling. Repeat for all skewers.
  3. Arrange on Platter: Place all the assembled skewers neatly on a serving platter, spacing them out attractively for easy grabbing.
  4. Season and Drizzle: Just before serving, drizzle the balsamic glaze evenly over the skewers. Lightly sprinkle salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste to enhance the flavors.

Notes

  • Use high-quality fresh mozzarella and ripe cherry tomatoes for the best flavor.
  • You can substitute balsamic glaze with a balsamic reduction if unavailable.
  • These can be prepared a few hours ahead but drizzle with balsamic glaze just before serving to avoid sogginess.
  • For a twist, add a small basil pesto dollop on the mozzarella before skewering.
